Alcuinus
The Alcuinus project is a unique plan aiming to catalogue international literature on liturgy and display it in a reader-friendly way. The design has three main aims: - precision: bibliographical descriptions which are not limited to general information about title and keywords, but which provide, whenever possible, the entire index or more detailed titles and headlines; - independence: it is created in a completely free and independent way by various users, no matter where they might live but who are all connected by mutual passion for liturgy; - simplicity: there is no need for special software, to contribute to the database, be it a book or an article, all that is required is a computer connected to the Internet.
Alcuinus is a continuation of Polish Liturgical Bibliography at www.liturgista.pl and derives its name from the legendary scholar, erudite, master of ceremonies and Charles the Great's adviser - Alcuin from York.
Any person dealing with liturgy is well aware of the fact that when it comes to full bibliographical orientation, the classical catalogues are not enough, even the ones held by many respected libraries. Therefore it is our purpose to create such a catalogue, that is completely independent from the libraries' resources and focuses on texts that simply ARE, without necessarily finding out which particular library they may come from...
